Noticing the World Around You

Recently, I’ve noticed how much love matters. Hugging your parents before you leave for school, holding the door, or even a compliment, could change someone's bad day around! After noticing how much one little act could help someone so much, I quickly got my notebook and wrote down my thoughts. Later on, I was reading what I wrote and then this poem was made!

Everyone deserves to be loved
People represent that with a dove

Love can be anywhere
Love is spread through the air

Love can be red or pink
You might miss it if you blink

Through thick and thin
Love is anywhere if you listen in!

So, do you notice and take the time to observe the things and people around you? Well, I challenge you to write about what you see happening around you! If you liked my poem and want to read more you should come check out my blog! Anyone is welcome!

  1. "Listen in" - yes to this. I could not agree more about how much love matters, Gabi. Last night I went to a wake for the father of a friend, and the room was full of people who loved him. Once again, I was reminded of how much we can miss if we don't pay attention, how precious life is. Thank you for your post here today. I hope your day is full of love! xxxx

  2. “You might miss it if you blink.” Oh my, there is such truth to this line. (And it is my favorite!) You have captured the spirit of love nicely, and I think a poem was the perfect way to write about this idea. Isn’t it amazing where our notebooks can lead us? Love (and other ideas for writing) is all around us if we just look — and don’t blink.

    Keep writing,

  3. It is those little things to notice that makes our lives happy, I agree, and many of them can tell others that we love them, or that we are loved. Instead of flying through life, it is true that 'You might miss it if you blink'. Thanks for this reminder, Gabi! I love seeing the page in your notebook!

  6. Hi Gabi! I love this poem, it feels so important these days when the world is so busy and there are sad things happening. Since I have moved to a big city where everyone moves fast and doesn't take much time to talk I have can see the specialness of your words. An act of love or kindness really can make someone's day and it is so good to remember that as we interact with our classmates and strangers. Thank you for reminding me how important this is. I also LOVE the drawing of the girl you made. :)
